Machine Learning (NLP) Engineer
We're looking for talented machine learning engineers with strong experience in natural language processing, specifically in the area of automatic speech recognition and small language models.

What You’ll Do

Develop and optimize natural language processing models and algorithms such as automatic speech recognition and small language models.

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to implement models on low SWaP devices.

Provide input to distributed data collection and data mining efforts.

Research and implement state-of-the-art techniques in ASR, SLM, and RAG.

Use of industry best-practices to develop testable, scalable software
Who You Are
-
Experience with Python, PyTorch, and other NLP libraries (e.g., Hugging Face, spaCy, NLTK)

Strong knowledge of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), and Machine Learning (ML)

Competence in building and deploying models, such as diarized transcription models and small language models.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is advantageous

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or similar fields or relevant industry experience.

Familiarity with aviation or aerospace technology is a plus

Compensation packages are comprised of salary and incentive stock options. Salaries may range from $80,000 to $175,000 per year depending on role and individuals experience. VTI additionally offers 401K with a 4% match, an unlimited PTO policy, and health care reimbursement up to the IRS allowable limit through QSEHRA.
